Lola Tillyaeva (Till)

Dr Lola Tillyaeva (Till) is the founder of La Maison de l’Ouzbékistan gallery. She is a prominent philanthropist and former Permanent Delegate of Uzbekistan to UNESCO. Dr Lola Tillyaeva has a tremendous passion for promoting and preserving Uzbek arts and culture. With the opening of la Maison de l’Ouzbekistan, she seeks to continue the work started in her ten-year ambassadorship and move forward in her mission of introducing Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage to a European audience. Dr Lola Tillyaeva envisages la Maison de l’Ouzbekistan to serve as a cultural bridge between Europe and Central Asia, providing a singular portal to Uzbekistan right in the heart of Paris. Over the years, Dr Lola Tillyaeva sponsored several cultural Uzbek exhibitions, book publications and film releases including the acclaimed colouring book “Uzbekistan: An Experience of Cultural Treasures to Colour” and the widely appraised documentary film  “Ulugh Beg – The Man Who Unlocked the Universe” which explores the fascinating life of Ulugh Beg, a 15th-century astronomer, mathematician and ruler of Samarkand. Her last major exhibition in March 2020 looked at “Fashion in Uzbekistan: Yesterday and Today”, and traced the history of fashion in Uzbekistan from the 1960s to the present day.  

In March 2018, Dr Lola Tillyaeva was made a Dame of the Royal Order of Francis I, in recognition of her contribution to charitable work, as well as for her role in promoting interfaith dialogue.

Dr Lola Tillyaeva is also a visionary wellbeing activist promoting a holistic approach to health care. In September 2020, Dr Lola Tillyaeva published the widely celebrated self-care guide “Be Your Own Harmonist: Awakening Your Inner Wisdom for Physical, Mental and Emotional Well-being”. In Be Your Own Harmonist, Dr Lola Tillyaeva (Till) draws on decades of research in science and spirituality on matters such as meditation and plant-based diets as well as her own personal experience in finding the daily practices that are most nourishing for mind, body and soul.
