Embroidery

Uzbek embroidery holds a special place in the rich pantheon of applied arts. The seemingly infinite variety of motifs, rich colours and fine silk threads all come together in a creative carnival in the skilled hands of the needlewomen.

Whether applied to wall hangings, used in plaids, cushions, fashion accessories or home decor, embroidery unfolds in a never-ending process of revival, all the while preserving the symbolic vocabulary of motifs from specific regional traditions which still flourish in Uzbekistan today.
